Since I updated yesterday to 7.0.2.3, my Ad-Aware 2007 hasn't found anything other than MRU's. I know that there are cookies there to be found. I figured I might have had a bad update, so I uninstalled and installed the latest d/l of the program. Same thing is happening today. Installed it with my Norton's 2007 system works antivirus disabled. None of my other programs like this are running in the background except my ZAP and that has always been running. I had this before and installing the program had fixed it. Not so this time.

Since I got the latest program update for the free version of Ad-Aware, it hasn't found anything else other than MRU's. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that would help and it didn't. Installed with Norton's Antivirus disabled and it is allowed in my fire wall. I had this problem with an older version of 2007 also, but then it was fixed with the last update. I use Spybot, but not the inmunizer part of that. I have other programs, but none are running in the background that would interfere with Ad-Aware. Don't know if reducing the memory usage caused it to not find any cookies at all, when the day before that update it was finding like 30 maybe....and cleaning them up too.

    Hi

It seemed to work ok last night, but I just ran it now and again no cookies. I am using IE 7 with Windows xp pro sp2 all the latest windows updates.

    Hi

I am using IE 7 with XP pro and all the latest updates for windows. The latest scan with Ad-Aware found 1 cookie and I know that there are more to be found. I used Spybot right after and that found more. I do not have immunization on so that shouldn't be interferring either. I use Zone Alarm Pro, but the spyware section of that is turned off so that shouldn't be interferring either. It did work ok for a while before this latest update of Adaware 2007. Will be waiting for some sort of fix or reply. Thanks.

    Hi

Still have no cookies being found at all. My other scanners are finding them, but I use Ad-Aware 2007 first.. None are running as background programs either. Cookies are there... Hope to hear a response from a Ad-Aware person soon. Thanks.

    Hi

Could my topic please be moved here perhaps? I had made a topic in another section of the forum in hopes that I would get some comments for the problem. I think some one merged it into one topic and put it in bug reports. I was asked what o/s and I answered that, but no further responses have been made. Perhaps, if moved, I will get some responses. Sorry if I have posted in someone other's topic, but I am a VIP in Game Spy Arcade forum and members try to help other members also. Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes.

    Hi floplo,

I would advise you to stick to your original thread here: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=12834

I merged your Topics and put them into "Bug Reports" since that is where the IT/Devs are most likely to look at user's problems (and post replies), as LS Tobias did.

You are not being deliberately overlooked - there is a lot of activity going on in the background and hopefully you will receive some more assistance soon.

    Regards,

Am I the only one having this problem? Would be nice to have some indication that this was being addressed and some solution for me. Any users of Ad-aware have any suggestions on how to fix? Is this a problem with the current version of Ad-aware or is it something on my computer causing the problem. Getting no feedback here from anyone is a little discouraging.... I'm the only one responding to my own topic here.

New definitions 0025 seems to solve the problem. I got tracking cookies again.

    Hi

I got cookies last night for the first time, in fact about 37 of them. However, I just ran it now and again no cookies were found and they are there. If it was the new definitions that made it work, I don't think it is working any more. Thanks for the replies though. At least I see now that there are others with the same problem which sort of helps. Problem is not fixed though, not on a permanent basis. I don't think new definitions are going to fix a flaw in the program. I think you need a version update to the program to do that. Check to see if it works after the first time with the new definitions. That will be the test.

No, cookies were being found in the version before 2.0.2.3. Once that version came out, then no more cookies were found till last night, but again today it not finding anything other than MRU's.

    Hi

I just updated to the new definitions 26. Again, no cookies are being found. This seems to happen every time the definitions are updated. Now it will probably take a few days till I see cookies showing up again. Something must be happening in the defintion update that is causing no tracking cookies being found. Hope you guys can find this problem and can stop it from happening every time there is a deifinition file update. It would also be nice if we had some indication that the developers are seeing these posts. I'm like just about the only one posting . This has been going on now for several weeks since 2.0.2.3 came out.

The version 7.0.2.3 should have fixed that problem.

    Hi

Yes I saw the reply, but since I can't find cookies with this program very often any more, I can't tell it which cookies to keep either. I think it found some cookies 1 time this week. Almost time for new definitions to come out, and that seems to stop any from being found for the past few weeks at least... I still think it has something to do with version 2.0.2.3. I try to run this program every night and 90 % of the time, there are no cookies to be found. Then I run another program and it finds cookies, so something not working right since 2.0.2.3 came out. Don't understand how it can work occasionally, but most of the time it doesn't work.

    Hi

I have IE 7 set on low for Privacy. I have downloaded the latest definition file. Today's scan found nothing again. When I run Spybot Search & Destroy immediately after running Ad-aware, it finds tracking cookies. I don't expect it to find every cookie that is on my computer, but I do know that there are tracking cookies on it. Since it is set on low, there should be some cookies there. In fact, some days it could find 30 cookies and then for days, none. Ad-aware used to find these cookies and get rid of them. Then when I ran Spybot, it would find nothing or maybe 1 once in a while that Ad aware missed. Now Spybot is finding any where up to 8 tracking cookies, while ad aware is missing all of these. I know no program can find all of them, that is why people today use more than 1 program. I used the old version of Ad aware and that always found tracking cookies every day. I am still going to the same sites every day too, but lately no cookies have been found. It's not like I have only 15 cookies in there and it finds none. By the end of the day, there are a lot of cookies in that folder. I have to end up deleteting the ones I don't want manually. Some thing is wrong here.

    Hi floplo,

AAW 2007 is designed to find cookies which might be viewed as Privacy violators (ie: tracking Cookies), which many people detest.

Any other first-party cookies, such as those needed to ensure recogniton of user-preferences/history/saved passwords in desired websites (ie: internet banking, social sites, even LS itself) won't necessarily trigger detection. There is a big difference between the two kinds of cookie. These are benign, whereas tracking cookies may gather user data for possible sale.

May I suggest that you firstly configure your browser privacy settings as to what kind of cookies your PC will accept - for IE7, please see http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/privacy/ieprivacy_pr7.mspx. For Mozilla, please use the "Tools > Options > Privacy" tab.

    Hi floplo,

I have IE 7 set on low for Privacy

That may be fine for trying to work out why AAW 2007 isn't detecting the cookies that you can see in your Temp Folders, but it not a wise move in today's web-world...

I would strongly advise raising Privacy to at least "Medium High" - you may find yourself getting some unintended visitors otherwise.

    Hi

The last 2 nights, it found cookies. I just updated to the new definitions again. Once again, it has found nothing....

    Hi

I now have the newest version of Ad-Aware and the newest definitions, and the program is still not finding the tracking cookies consistently. Some nights it works and finds some tracking cookies and other nights it misses them all. Like last night, Ad aware found nothing and immediately afterwards, Spybot found 8 tracking cookies. I know the tracking cookies are there, but don't know the reason why some nights it will work fine, yet most nights it doesn't pick up anything but the same 3 MRU's. Both Spybot and Spyware doctor will find the tracking cookies consistently, but not Ad-aware 2007.

I ran Ad-aware 2007 Free. It found nothing other than MRU's.

I ran Spybot and it found 1 Double Click tracking cookie

    3 Hit Box tracking cookies

    1 Hitslink tracking cookie

    1 MediaPlex tracking cookie

It takes like 4 or 5 days till Ad-aware 2007 will find anything agaIn after a definitions update is received. Then it will work again for like 3 days till the next update...... I guess I am the only one posting on this thread too....

    Hi

I been waiting for months to get some help to get this program to run with some consistency. I am the only one posting in here. I guess since I am not a paying customer, no one is interested in helping or figuring out why it not working for me. One day it will find a cookie and the next time the same cookie is in the cookie folder and nothing is found. I've been trying to be patient and have used Ad-aware SE free one for years with no problems. It found tracking cookies every day. Now it works in a very haphazard way and doesn't seem to be a reliable program any more unfortunately for me. I been trying to put down information which I think may be helpful in getting this resolved for me, but no responses from any help people. This is the only thread in this section which shows no new posts or responses now for weeks besides mine. I give up.... Not even a response from someone saying they are looking into the problem... zilch, nothing......

What does the symbol mean next to my previous topic mean? I don't see it listed on the bottom with the other symbols.

    Hello again floplo,

I have checked - it is another version of the "Hot Topic" symbol - it will quite likely change to the version shown at the bottom at some stage.

    Hi floplo,

I'm not exactly sure - I have seen it appear from time to time on posts that have grown to a certain length.

I will ask an Admin and get back to you

In the meantime, I will merge this new Topic back into your existing one to keep it all together and tidy.
