You can not download definition files.

Dear Cecilia,

I´ve plea, you can not download definition files. The last one was withdrawn on May 15., And since you can not download the file or manually. What to do?

    It was worked for me to days ago but today I have same problem again. maybe Adaware 10 better than 11.
    When you fix it?

    I wish I could give you advice on this issue - I too cannot download definitions (have been trying for more than 12 hours). Lavasoft, please help. Since Lavasoft have servers for different parts of the world, I will provide information about my whereabouts: I am in South Africa. This is not the first time that I have run into this problem.

     

    Lavasoft, please fix your update server.

    Tried again. This time it downloads, then says "Updating Definitions", then gives error message: Something is preventing definitions from being updated... Try later"

    Thanks for the information. Since there are several persons reporting update issues today, I guess it's a problem with the update servers and I'll ask Lavasoft tomorrow.

    I to seem to have this problems on only one of my two computers with ad-aware. One is running ad aware 11 the other 10 (10.5.3 seems to be o.k.) When can we expect this issue to be resolved? My operating system keeps reminding me it's out of date. Its my HTPC so....

    i'm having an exact same problem.

    i get an error message saying "something prevented the defenitions from updating"

    My pc keeps notifying me it's out of date and i feel unsafe.

    I see that the problem has more people. After manual "download", which looks as if it was real, a message appears: "Definitions could not be updated ... Please try again ad a later time". And it is repeated later.

    I'm experiencing a similar problem. I am unable to update definition files. It says try later, which I have makes no difference. Experiencing same problem....please advise urgently. Thanks.

    Same problem in France, both at home and at work (I carry my notebook everythwere). It started at least 10 hours ago.

    Lavasoft is aware of that there is an issue with the definition updates and they are working on a solution, but it may take a day or two to solve it. Please, be patient.

    I have the same problem as everyone else here.
    I have been unable to install updates since15 May 2014.
    I get the same warning. Adaware searches, downloads, starts to install updates

    then the message that, "something prevented the updates from installing, please try later".

     

    This must be a known issue by now.

    Add me to this list is annoyed people getting this message. I have no internet problems, no firewall problems, I've been using Ad Aware for years and since yesterday this is the first time I have ever gotten the message "Definitions could not be updated".

    I am still having this problem too, in India. It appears to download, says "Applying updates" but then "Something is preventing definitions from being updated... Try later". I tried temporarily disabling the Firewall, no good.

    I have Windows XP, SP3, Comodo Cleaning Essentials. Recently AVG anti-virus destroyed my internet connection during a major update and again during attempts to reinstall AVG. If LavaSoft no longer works, I'll have to try Avast or Avira but I'd rather stay with Ad-Aware. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

    I am still having issues downloading definition updates also, but a Lavasoft Moderator posted this yesterday

    I tried to download the virus definitions update of 3.38 MB. No luck, same error message. Earlier, the amount to be downloaded was something like 8 MB (or 12?). So itseems LavaSoft is trying to make the bundle to be downloaded smaller? Still not working.

I have control over my browser again, but have wanted to run Ad-Aware to ensure my system is protected. I have the Ad-Aware Pro Security Version 11.1.5354.0 that is paid through 2016-02-03.

     

    If there is a problem with the version that I have installed, could you help me find the link to download the software again, without needing to pay or upgrade? I should not need to do either since I am paid through February 3, 2016.

    As you can see in e.g. this topic a lot of persons can't download new definitions in Ad-Aware. You have to wait until the issue has been solved, you can't do anything and you shouldn't reinstall Ad-Aware since you might end up with no definitions at all.

    You should be more careful with what you do on the internet, don't download suspicious files or visit suspicious web sites. But hopefully your Ad-Aware usually don't find malware in your computer, since that means you're careful with what you do online.

    Today's update was 6.79 MB (yesterday's 3.38 MB). It still won't "Apply the definitions". "Something prevented...Try again later." I tried temporarily turning off my firewall, that made no difference. This is frustrating and it's been going on since April. Can Lavasoft please give some indication when/if the problem will be fixed.

    I've been trying since the 14th May. it still isn't working

    I'm Australia ( Sydney)

     

    I have the Pro Security.

     

    I wish they'd fix it or tell us something. I hate it when you ask something and don't get a reply
