Can't activate AdAware 11

I can't activate Ad-Aware 11.4.6792.0 posting a screenshot.

 

I am using WIN XP SP3 32bit.

    Are you activating with the same product key in both computers (registering both with the same email address)?

    If yes: Have you tried to register with your wife's email address and get another product key for her?

    Hi megamind,

     


    Do you still have a very slow internet connection?


    Do you have another antivirusprogram installed?


    Which firewall do you use?


    Is Ad-Aware recently installed since you want to activate it?

     


    Check that no proxy server is used in Internet Explorer and Firefox (if you have it), please:

     


    1. Start Internet Explorer.


    In the Tools menu select Internet options, followed by Connection tab and then click the LAN Settings button.


    If the check box Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) is selected, please:


    • Write down the content of the Address and Port fields, if the Address field is empty click on Advanced and write down the addresses and ports there. These values indicate if the computer is or was infected.

    • Remove the check mark before clicking OK twice.

    2. Start Firefox.


    Select Options in Tools menu, followed by Advanced and Network tab, and then Settings.


    • Write down the content of all fields fields, if any are filled in. These values indicate if the computer is or was infected.

    • Select No proxy or Use system proxy settings before clicking OK twice.

    3. Try to activate Ad-Aware again.

    I am having a similar problem. I have checked internet explorer and chrome and both of them do not have the proxy settings on. I do not currently have any other antivirus software loaded on the computer. I even turned off my firewall for a bit to see if that was preventing it. I just keep being told that the activation could not be completed and to try again.

    You're welcome

    Please, download the attached file and save it e.g. on the desktop.
    Double-click the downloaded file.
    In the opened Explorer window is a folder called Activation.
    Right-click the Activation folder and select Copy.

    To be able to continue you need to be able to see all folders and you have to select to show hidden files, see http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html for a description.

    Please, locate the folder C:\ProgramData\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 11\.
    Right-click the folder and select Paste.
    The Activation folder should now be visible in the Ad-Aware 11 folder.

    Please, change the setting back to not show hidden files.

    Restart the computer.

    Is Ad-Aware activated now?

     

    Delete the downloaded file, please.

    sorry for hi-jacking but i got the same activation problem. will not acept my key just fails. had issues getting real time to enable had to run as administrator for it to work.

    i have made sure that proxy is of, internet works fine. have messaged lavasoft direct but no reply as yet hope you can help running on windows 7

    i cant open ad-aware from the tool bar icon i have to use desktop icon or the one in the start menu

    Have you tried both right- and left-click?

     


    Please, upload a new system information file and a new zip file of the Ad-Aware folder (same folder again).

    Wait a few seconds and then start Ad-Aware from desktop icon.
    Is the icon in notification area visible again?
    Does anything happen when you right- or left-click it?

    If not, please upload a new zip file of the Ad-Aware folder (same folder again) and a screen shot (print screen, snipping tool) of the notification area.

    I'm in the same boat as others here. I've gotten the activation key via email, but using it to activate fails, with the "try again later" message. I've been trying for 3 days now. I've also submitted problem reports (look for reports from "don@dondwiggins.net".

     

    I see you got damien going by giving him a patch for the activation file. I'd settle for that, but I really want to know when "real" activation will work again.


    from my exsperience double check your internet settings ive never used proxy but installing ad-aware change it so had to untick the proxy box. to speed things up you could upload your files as it seems everyone is asked for the same ones if you read back through the posts you will see the files they want and how to get them if you dont already no.

    Thanks, damien. It may come to that, but we shouldn't have to go through these gyrations. For now, I'll keep waiting to learn when "real" activation will work again.

    Lavasoft needs some private information, please send me a PM with your email address, since Lavasoft can't find the key you have entered in their system, and they can search for email address instead.

    Please, specify how and where you bought Ad-aware, too.

    According to the logs Ad-Aware Free is activated. Please, attach a screen capture (PrintScreen, SnippingTool) of the Ad-Aware message about activation failure.
