    Hi Lewis,

Thank you for the information. I have informed my contact person at Lavasoft and they are going to look into it.

There aren't any major changes in Ad-Aware 11.7 that would explain it. Please, check that you haven't configured Ad-Aware to do a scheduled scan at the time when Windows woke up.

    Hi Cecilia,

I'm pretty sure that I haven't had scheduled scans activated before, as I haven't seen scans happening unless I initiated them. I've checked the settings and it did seem like daily automated scans were activated for midday, I'm not sure if this is a default setting after the update. I've deactivated it and tried putting my PC to sleep, but I'm afraid it still woke up I'd say less than 1 minute afterwards as it's been doing since the update. Hope someone can help?

    Best Regards,

    Lewis

    Hi Lewis,

Maybe the logs can contain valuable information. Please, follow the instructions in http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/33638-collect-logs-for-troubleshooting/ and specify the last time (including time zone) when the computer woke up.

    Hi Cecilia

I am having the same problem. I updated to the latest version of Ad-Aware today, and now my computer won't stay in sleep mode. It wakes up again a few minutes later.

I also used the command line prompt like Lewis (powercfg -lastwake) at it said it was ad-aware that had woken it.

Has the contact person at Lavasoft got back to you with any suggestions yet?

    Thanks

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

I don't have any contact with Lavasoft during the weekend.

    Please, follow post #4.

    Windows 7 HP SP1 x64 - Pro Security

I usually put my desktop system to sleep early evening, a few hours before I bed down for the say. The power LED has always been in slow blinking mode, easily observed over time as the desktop is in a central location in my home.

Since 11.7, I have on several occasions noticed the LED in a solid state with the hard drive LED active. However, my monitor remains in sleep - this is quite perplexing. Eventually, the LED returns to its sleep state.

    C:\>powercfg -waketimers
Timer set by [sERVICE] \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware Antivirus\Ad-Aware Antivirus\11.7.485.8398\AdAwareService.exe Reason: generic

As a work-around attempt, I've set to Disable for Sleep > Allow wake timers under the advanced settings in the Power Options Control Panel. I won't be able to observe the effect until tonight, tho.

Can confirm, recent update to Ad-Adware 11.7 results in computer waking from sleep after 30 seconds. Only devices with wake ability are keyboard and mouse. With both disabled, the computer still wakes.

Upon reverting back to 11.6, the issue had resolved itself via a System Restore.

My PC configuration is about the same as dallas7's. It began waking up on its own yesterday after installing v. 11.7.

    Hi everyone,

If you want Lavasoft to find the cause as fast as possible and fix the problem as fast as possible, you have to upload the log files as described in post #4.

Hi, yes I'm getting this too. Constant wake from sleep or hibernation.

    C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -lastwake
    Wake History Count - 1
    Wake History [0]

I've followed the how to submit files link in post 4, including the show hidden files section. However I could not see any msi*.* files in the directory mentioned. I tried searching the whole disk for msi*.* but there's thousands!

    I've uploaded the other two.

The last wake was at 16:07 GMT. In the meantime I'll look to see if I can find a way to install the previous version.

NOTE: The first Ad-Aware11.zip file I made was rejected by your system as being too big. I looked at it and it was 3.5G! I thought WTF and looked at the Adaware11 folder. In the Quarantine folder there were 3 huge files. 969M, 800M and 771M. No wonder my backups take so long. I think you should look into your programs housekeeping tasks!

    Hi M61Vulcan,

Thank you for the logs, I'm sure they are useful for Lavasoft.

I am having the exact same issue since upgrading from 11.6 to 11.7. The PC goes to sleep and then it automatically wakes-up after a minute or so and sometimes after just a few seconds. I also tried with hibernation and have the exact same results. I hope Lavasoft finds a resolution soon. I am reverting back to 11.6.

I just reverted back to 11.6 from 11.7 and the issue is resolved. My PC no longer automatically wakes up from sleep or hibernation. I hope Lavasoft provides a resolution with a 11.7 or higher patch.

Wow, I thought I was going crazy when my PC wouldn't stay asleep! Thanks to Google, I found this.

All the thoughts and suggestions have been great, especially from dallas7. I have set Disabled for Sleep per his suggestion and it works great.

CeciliaB, will you post something here when an update is ready?

    Hi everyone,

Lavasoft has been able to reproduce this wake-up behaviour and is working on a solution. Please be patient.

Please, either follow dallas7 advice change the settings in Power Options (best) or do a system restore to a date before the update of Ad-Aware.

If you can't do a system restore or in any other way revert back to 11.6, please send me a PM and I'll arrange that you get the installation file for 11.6.

    Hi Mark,

I'll try to remember that but since you are keeping Ad-Aware 11.7, Ad-Aware should inform you that a new version is available.

Been having the same issues since the last update. I first ran the powercfg -lastwake this morning because it bothered me after not knowing what it was for a while, even though the SSD boots the computer fast enough from a complete shut down.

Anyway, I can see you are looking into it, so consider this a thread bump

Add me to the list as well, my husband spent hours disabling this and that just to find out it was adaware 11.7. I don't seem to be able to restore to a point before the ad aware update to .7 and I don't know how to re-install the .6. I see Cecelia mentions to PM her for the link to .6 so I will try that. Looking forward to a fix, I think we all should have a couple months credit for it not working properly, Just sayin' . Its not cool that i have to keep turning off my computer, hibernating is much more efficient.

    Hi Gingersnap,

Have you tested the suggestion made by dallas7, that's disable the wake timers?

Please, after a wakeup start Command Prompt and enter this command:

    powercfg lastwake

Copy the result and paste it into your reply here.

    Hi every1,

Dunno if I'm a little late, but I've been having the same problem after I updated my Windows from 7 to 10. Tried everything without result, reported to Lavasoft and they responded that it's under investigation. Well, after a while I tried to put my settings to manual and to my surprise it DID work. No more 1 minute sleep time for my PC. Now it wakes up only when I tell it so.

I did this; Opened Ad-Aware -> Network Protection -> Advanced Options -> Default Action set to "Prompt" instead of "Allow". A little annoying at 1st when u need to confirm everything, but at least this solved my problem and I hope it will help others too.

    Thanks Wilzon, for the description.

Two days ago Lavasoft released Ad-Aware 11.8 with improved compatibility with Windows 10. If you haven't updated to it already, please do that.
