False positive detected
Hi, I am new to this forum, but i am here with a hope that my issue will be fixed.
Since past couple of days I am not able to download a file from this link http://trk.airinstaller.com/get/click/08d96588/
'AirInstaller (f's)' threat was detected while copying the file,'setup.exe'. This is something which I really need to use on my system,
My friends have been using it for a long time, they are using security like AVG 2014, Kaspersky 2014 , Malwarebytes etc. And it's working fine there.
Details of your security are :-
>>Version Details :- 10.5.2.4379
>>Virus Database details :- 22396
Please correct this.
Thanks

Hi Djay,
This is not a false positive - the application is adware. Click the "Learn More" link on http://softzipper.com
There are a few companies that also block the link and detect this application, including Malwarebytes:
The application seems to be built using 7zip - I'd suggest installing 7zip instead: http://www.7-zip.org/
Hope this helps!

Hi Andy,
I tried to dig on what you said and i even read what you asked me to read on http://softzipper.com/learn-more.html, I appreciate what Lavasoft does. But my question is, When an application is itself saying as a part of disclaimer and terms that they are into advertiser supported business and that's the reason they are offering this software for free, not only this " ALL OFFERS ARE OPT IN AND TOTALLY OPTIONAL" and one can decline it anytime then what's the problem. It's all clear for a user, there are no lies or bluffs. Almost every company in the market does it to earn money.
That's why Lavasoft shouldn't be having problems with this application and I believe it is a false positive. Kindly review this.
Thanks
Djay

Hi Djay,
The file will remain in detection but it is possible to add it to the ignore list. You can find the ignore list interface by clicking on 'Scan' (just below where it says 'Options' at the very top right of the GUI), then clicking 'Ignore List' on the menu at the left.

Hi Andy ,
Doing this "ignore list" thing is only gonna help me, what about the dozens and dozens rather i should say thousands of other people who are facing the same issue using your product "Lavasoft Adaware". Can you please tell me the steps that we can take in order to get this clean on Lavasoft.
Hoping for a detailed reply.
Thanks
Djay

Hi Djay,
Users have several options available - add the file to the ignore list, use an alternative compression application such as 7-zip, use an anti-malware application that does not flag the file (see here to see which vendors do not detect it) or allow Ad-Aware to detect it.
This is not considered a false positive and will remain in detection.

Andy
