Feedback
Just popped A-A 12 on for a quick evaluation, my main system so don't like running beta's
Firstly, the main desktop & system tray icon? Yuk! Would of much preferred just the Shield without the Blob? around it LOL!. I like the Shield itself & the colors are nice but the blob around it kinda ruins it IMO.
That icon is what represents Ad-Aware, it better be right
Second, on the left hand side you have Home, Scan Computer, Real-time etc. buttons? Say you click on Web Protection? I'd like to see the little Earth Symbol? stay orange indicating where you are on that menu?. The pop-up's? for that menu are kind of annoying as well? they Protrude into whatever section your in? & easily get in the way.
Now staying in Web Protection lets click on Advanced Settings. How do you Go Back? Their is no Go Back button or whatever? The only way to return to the previous menu is to go to the top & click on the tiny litter letters saying Web Protection?
Other than that it installed on my Windows 10/64bit NP & everything seems fine
TY.

Hi RMc,
Thanks for your feedback

Installed A-A12 on Windows 7 Ultimate (64 Bit), Samsung RV515 laptop, easy install, did full scan, all went well.
The A-A12 GUI is attractive, easy to navigate and functional, all features working well. Five Stars so far.
Am posting from my Debian (Jessie) HP G61 machine, have reached my end of fixing M$. Would like to see a Lavasoft application for Linux.
When first used A-A it was my last hope of fixing a crippled MS machine, had used Norton AV since inception, A-A Free had found myriad advertising based items that had crippled the machine.

I too would like to add feedback. I would like to see a check for updates and updates progress icon and option added to the main home tab on the main GUI , as opposed to having to go to realtime protection - definition settings- check for updates
And since Email and Web Protection are essentially the same thing in a way, consider combining the two into one option, called Web and Email Protection

I found a minor bug: the Ad-Aware logo on the page that pops up when a dangerous webpage is blocked is cut out.
This should be fixed in the latest beta version (beta 2).

Tried installing Adaware 12 beta on 4G data but installation is so slow I finally gave up and cancelled it.

if I may, do you have a slow server where you are? downloading definitions takes ages even on a 15mb connection. also love the increased install speed. but wouldnt mind if the installer asked for the appropriate key at the start of the install, instead of after. that way it only needs to download the appropriate components at the start

so here is my list of pros and cons for the beta 3:
Good detection and web protection
Acceptable UI, would still prefer an update now button on the home tab, and via right clicking the tray icon
Does not slow web browsing
Quiet and only pops when it needs something or to catch your attention.
Cons:
By default Firewall will allow everything instead of using a white and blacklist to determine whether to deny or allow and application or process, to have full control you need to switch it to prompt
Scan speeds could be improved and the amount of disk usage while scanning could be cut in half
when ad-aware blocks a malicious page, consider changing the X icon to red X on white circle, red is more noticeable as a danger! stop icon.
Consider leaving scan archive files and deep scan off by default in web protection, only slows browsing and archives are harmless until the files inside are extracted.
Consider skipping files that cant be infected from both the realtime and manual scans,
Finally consider moving definition files settings from the scan tab to the web protection tab, it just makes more sense and update as part of a quick and full scan , so users have the latest definitions before the scan begins

Sorry I forgot to mention one small thing:
it should say check for new threat definitions , not definition
Lavasoft thanks you and it will be changed.

A change of the firewall is on the internal wish list, but Lavasoft isn't sure they will have time to do it before the release of version 12.
Lavasoft is working on the scanners at the moment.

Lavasoft is planning to change the installation program to have registration/activation earlier.

I suggest you to make the generic "The web page you are trying to view has been blocked" warning more specific. Not only to say "deemed as dangerous", it should be explained why is it blocked (which component blocked it): Phishing, Malware URL, Adult site (parental control).

Is Ad-aware using the photon component of the bitdefender engine? when first installed it used 124mb of ram, after first full scan and 24 hours, its now sitting at 38mb

Sorry, they're very busy now with both Ad-Aware 11.14 released only a few days ago and with the beta testing including next beta version.

I suggest you replace "Estimated time left" and "Elapsed time" on the Scanning... page with a visual progress bar. It's more appealing and quicker to see the progress.
And the cube on the Scanning page stopped spinning in Beta 4, you know that?

My suggestion about marking main menu items:
Need to make current(active) menu item marked(highlighted) all time. Orange mark present only when mouse cursor is upon menu item. Mark disappear once cursor moved. New User not sure where he located inside application. Current menu item should be marked orange all time.
