Adaware 12 causing long loading of some files
Hello, I noticed a problem with adaware.
When I want to view some images in for example folder A, when adaware protection is on it takes some time to view load previews (icons) of those images, also it takes some time to load by windows photo viewer.
When I turn off adaware protection, images are loading fast and normally, I also noticed that this happening to some other files too (long time to load).
I don't know what to do, because the only working fix for this I know is turning off adaware protection.
Please help.

Hi specopsbarton,
Adaware antivirus should check the files on the way from the hard disk to the photo viewer, but that shouldn't take long. Please, collect logs and other information by following the instructions in http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/34799-how-to-report-a-problem// to let adaware software (Lavasoft) check if they can see anything unusual in them.
Do you've any other antivirus, anti-malware program, firewall or similar program installed or have uninstalled any such program?
0 -
No, I dont have any other antivirus installed - last prorgam I uninstalled was malwarebytes antimalware, but it was long ago even before installation of adaware 12.
I run some scanning programs like Hitman Pro and Roguekiller to scan sometimes my pc, but I doubt they making this problem.
I sent you logs by PM, sorry I dont want entire world to know everything about my pc.

So you informed them?

Thanks, I'll inform adaware software (Lavasoft) on Monday.

Sorry but adaware software needs more detailed logs to be able to find the cause of the problem.
Please right-click This Computer icon and select
Properties -> Change settings -> Advanced -> Environment Variables -> New (under System variables) -> OK.
In the Varable Name field please type: ADAWARE_LOG_LEVEL
and in the Variable Value field and then type: Trace
If ADAWARE_LOG_LEVEL already exists, write down the current value.
Please view some of the files with long loading.
Collect new adaware logs and send the link to them in your PM conversation.
If ADAWARE_LOG_LEVEL did exist, please restore Trace to the old value.
If it didn't exist, please delete ADAWARE_LOG_LEVEL instead.

Yes I did, but I haven't received a reply yet since they're very busy investigating various problems at the moment.

Hello I done like you said, new logs are in private message/conversation.

I'm sorry, I didn't get the whole instruction from them. Please again:
Please right-click This Computer icon and select
Properties -> Change settings -> Advanced -> Environment Variables -> New (under System variables) -> OK.
In the Varable Name field please type: ADAWARE_LOG_LEVEL
and in the Variable Value field and then type: Trace
If ADAWARE_LOG_LEVEL already exists, write down the current value.
Now you've two alternatives.
1. Restart the computer.
or
2. Stop adaware service by right-clicking the adaware icon in the field next to the clock and select Stop adaware antivirus.
Start adaware service by right-clicking the icon again but this time select Start adaware antivirus.

You're welcome
Adaware software asks if you allow them to connect to your computer to try to solve the problem. You'll see everything they do, and you'll be able to stop them and communicate with them. If you accept it, please tell us when you're available including time zone.
You'll also need to install Teamviewer program.
1. Please go to the website https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/windows/ and click the green Download TeamViewer button.
2. Download the installation program.
3. Start the installation program.
4. Choose Basic installation and Personal/Non-commercial use and click Accept - Finish.
5. If a pop-up from UAC (User Account Control) is displayed, click Yes.
6. When the installation is finished, TeamViewer will display your TeamViewer ID and Password.
7. Please, send those two to us in a PM.
8. The TeamViewer program needs to be running when adaware software is going to connect to your computer.

Adaware software noticed that you've Hitman Pro installed and the most common reason for problems of your type is that there is some kind of conflict between the two similar products. Is it possible for you to uninstall Hitman Pro, restart the computer and then test the loading time?
0 -
I uninstalled Hitman Pro, restarted computer and tested loading times - the same long loading, no difference. Also hitman pro version I have is only for scanning compuer, it doesnt have real time protection or any other similar module.

Thanks for helping adaware software to test possible solutions.
Do you've any other similar program?
Even if a program hasn't real-time protection, it can still have drivers installed that can interfere with other similar drivers. It's the same thing when adaware antivirus is used as an on-demand scanner and another antivirus program is installed.

No problem, if I will can help more, just tell me
I use RogueKiller(protable) and HitmanPro only as a scanners and Adaware is main antivirus with real time protection.
I noticed that after scan with RogueKiller, Adaware ram usage jumps from 300mb to over 600. When I update definitions when Adaware ram is this high, ram is going back to normal 300mb.
I dont know why this is happening, but I doubt long loading is causing RogueKiller because I dont use it often and it is portable version - please report this about this ram jumps, because it can be useful info.
All this long loading I noticed after upgrading to Adaware 12, so maybe its bug or something?
Anyways I wait for new update about which person in teamviewer said, maybe it will fix this long loading.

Let's check what programs that are installed and what's running.
Please, download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) and save it on the desktop:
For 64 bits Windows: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/farbar/FRST64.exe
For 32 bits Windows: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/farbar/FRST.exe
Start the FRST program.
Read the disclaimer and click Yes to accept it.
Click Scan button.
When done, FRST will create two log files, called FRST.txt and Addition.txt, on the desktop.
Please, attach them to your reply (click More Reply Options button to see how to attach files).0 -
Please read private message.

Adaware software thanks you for the log files.

No problem
Anyways, something new about this problem from them?

Sorry, they haven't been able to find the cause yet

But now when I looked into your log files, I can see two drivers of Ad-Aware version 10 and an unknown file. The two drivers have caused many problems when running together with Ad-Aware 11.
1. To remove the two drivers
Please, start Notepad.
Copy all text that is in the box:CreateRestorePoint:
and paste in Notepad. Check that no files have been split on two lines.
CloseProcesses:
S3 gfiark; C:\Windows\System32\drivers\gfiark.sys [41032 2013-05-23] (ThreatTrack Security)
R0 gfibto; C:\Windows\System32\drivers\gfibto.sys [14456 2013-09-23] (GFI Software)
Reboot:
Save the file as fixlist.txt on the desktop.
Exit all programs.
Start FRST, please.
Click the Fix button.
Wait until the tool has finished.
It creates a log file, called Fixlog.txt, on the desktop.
Please, paste the content of that file in your reply.2. The unknown file
Upload this file to http://www.virustotal.com/ using the "Choose file" function (select to reanalyze if asked) and post back the link to the scan report: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\a91joqu4.sys

Please read pm.

My contact person at adaware software wonders if you've checked the health of the hard drive recently since it can take a long time to access files on a hard drive with some bad sectors.
The unknown file has changed its name, now it's C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\a5f8wwyo.sys. The two old Ad-Aware drivers are still there.

My ssd is ok, but those unknown files - I cant find them and view/see, and I know one guy who is experienced at logs like FRST, to whom I also send logs sometime to check my PC, so after I gave him first logs I gave to you Cecilia, he said everything is ok.
I dont know what causes creation of this unknown file and also I check my pc reguraly, so I doubt its any infection but if you know anything, please write.
Those two old adaware files I didnt remove because I made new logs for you, so I waited for your response.
Fixlog - please check pm.
EDIT: About this weird file:
I was able to scan this file on virustotal, but I had to copy and paste by text in virustotal to be able to scan it because this file was hidden and I am not able to view it by standard ways. I made new logs in FRST just to see if this file will be generated again, and this time its name was:
U3 aday4g6k; C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\aday4g6k.sys [0 ] (Microsoft Corporation) <==== UWAGA (zerobajtowy plik/folder)
Here is link to virustotal report:
EDIT 2: Here is again this file, but different name:

IEverything I have on SSD - I only use one ssd.
About this file I too dont know why it is created - I made new logs in FRST, can you check if everything is ok and there is no infection etc? Please read pm.
0 -
The file is apparently good, but I don't know why that Microsoft driver is changing its name and hides its presence, size and date.
You can use the script in post #23 to remove the two old Ad-Aware drivers.
Sorry, I didn't read the PM before replying here.
Edit:
Are the files that needs long loading also on the SSD or do you've some files on a hard disk?
0 -
I can't see anything malicious in the log files.

Hello I noticed also, that sometimes in "Opening menu" of some programs when I want to go to Desktop I cant, because it loading long and icon is changed to white.
Please check new logs from FRST in pm, and if you can please tell me if there is no any infection.
And after removing those old adaware 10 drivers, this problem still occurs - removing them didnt helped.

The logs looks good.
Adaware software is trying to figure out why it takes very long time to scan/load some files in some computers. I hope they'll find the solution soon and release a new version.

Lol...sorry but FRST and other crapware will not solve your incompetence to resolve current situation. You guys really dont know what are you doing, right? What a shame
