to the makers of Ad-aware 10: Update & post the new Windows OS requirements of the Ad-aware 10 software on the Ad-aware web site when it is finalized. Ad-aware 10 does NOT install nor run under Windows 2000 as I get an error message that I have an "inadequate" version of Windows when I attempt to install it under a Win2k computer. So it seems that Ad-aware 10.x will require a minimum of WinXP SP2 to use. And therefore, the last version of Ad-aware to run properly under Windows 2000 is Ad-aware 9.6.

CeciliaB & LS Andy, please make a note of what I said above.

On the other hand, I've actually beta tested Ad-aware Free Antivirus 10 on different versions of Windows on 4 computers. One uses WinXP SP3 (32bit), another uses WinVista SP2 (32bit) and the other two use Win7 SP1 (64bit). So far, it's okay.

Will the main window be adapted to 800x600 screens? It's out of my monitor and cannot be resized.

    Thanks

    Testing v.10 beta free.

    Some feedback:

    1. The scanning time is too long! Reduce it!

2.Put an option to directly submit files through the GUI.False positives and malware samples.
Ad-Aware does not indicates with alert, when a malware is detected by the real time protection. It puts the files in the quarantine, but silently, no alerts.

Thanks! That's good, but I think we still need an alert, in every possible mode(except gaming mode).Just to know that malware is blocked(detected etc.).Just a suggestion. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Nice, cool interface.... but indeed there must be some kind of alerts when virus/malware is blocked maybe also when the new updates are installed, just provide us more information what is going on.

During the test, Ad-Aware failed to protect the PC......but it's still in Beta, so maybe they will improve their protection....

    I am looking forward to their official release....any news already? /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

    Hi vigo2007,

    No antivirus program finds everything /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

The database signatures are not updated so often in the beta version, why new malicious files could easily be missed. What did Ad-Aware miss?

I have seen a red box near system tray from Ad-Aware real-time protection, saying it has blocked something, but it might have been with an earlier beta version. I hope you haven't activated "Gaming mode". I think most users are not interested in receiving a lot of information from their antivirus program, and certainly not a pop-up several times a day that the signatures have been updated.

One suggestion when releasing final version of adware internet security 10 include database with the installer or make that web installer smart just like pctool antivirus.

Make it possible for users to translate Ad-Aware, at least for themselves and their friends.

you're welcome. I may make a separate topic about the new Ad-aware 10 Windows OS requirements as the Ad-aware 10 beta page still mentions Win2000 Pro when it shouldn't do so.

    Hi all,

Thanks for the compliments of my Avatar....McVicker.....Hahaha....

Anyway, I just tested some different kind of malware, I used some sites like: malwaredomainlist and Malc0de and another one....tested quite a few links but I think almost the half of them where not catched.

I like to see a possibility to turn the popup on/off or something like that...so you can choose yourself.

I really appreciate it when there is a virus on my computer, my antivirus program warns me. Also I would like to know it will update regularly, maybe there is a server error so I cannot update the latest version and all zero days can infect my pc.

Just let us choose, some like it to be warned, others not....at the moment we have a lot of problems with install programs, fake programs, they seems harmless but they really are....more and more appears lately and a lot of anti virus programs can't detect them... Anyway...any news when Lavasoft will release version 10? Have a good day! Regards Vigo 2007

Probably, he tested no zero days....and these are the most important I assume.......However I really want to buy a license after the final release..... and will test it myself again thoroughly.

    Hi vigo2007,

To get a popup when the real-time protection finds something, you click on the gear below the text "Real-Time Protection" and change "Suspicious Programs" to "Prompt User".

Have you seen member Smith999 test results with malicious links? http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/32171-great-job-with-the-toolbar

Ad-Aware 10 hasn't been released to the public yet, but those of you who have access to the Beta, let us know what improvements you would make.

If you have a idea for a new feature, something you'd like to see in the GUI or any other suggestions you have to make Ad-Aware 10 better, post them here.

Be as detailed as you like!

    1) The previous GUI was much better not only for it's small screen, it was just more attractive and simple. In the new version you tried to draw all the features on the one window and got a huge screen.

    2) It was a really nice feature when the program was blocking malicious processes that just TRIE to start. The real-time file protection slows down a PC. I open an explorer and get obliged to wait untill hundred huge files will be scanned and then appeared - please turn it back.

At length, there is no reason to change something in the program except, of course, improving it's power to recognize malware!

    Thank you for attention...

Make it so that the user can disable just the antivirus engine as is the case in the current stable version, for those who already have antivirus software and still want to use the other protection functions in Ad-Aware, such as adware, spyware, keyloggers, tracking cookies, etc. I suggest this because multiple antivirus programs conflict.

    Thanks !

I hope the new version of ad aware can support Google Chrome browser. It's because the previous version of ad aware just supported IE by using the download guard.

It would be very nice if Ad-Aware was comatible/interoperable with the other major security suites like McAfee, Norton, Bitdefender, Avast, and Kasperskys' even Spybot Search & Destroy just to name a few. Yes, I do know these are full featured suites however having another suite like Ad-Aware that can run alongside these without conflict (and without special configuration) would not only be incredibly amazing but it would also add a layer of security making it harder for crimeware/malware to get into users computers. It would also be nice to see Lavasoft maintain the flexibility of being capable of either a primary or secondary layer of security; which it has held for years. And to keep the installer file small why not have it download compatibility information for the detected on-board security programs this would include leaving all of Ad-Aware's feature fully operational. Having this level of compatibility to work with any other security suite would also be an excellant point of sale not only for Lavasoft but for computer techs out in the field while keeping cybercrime at bay.

    Thanks,

I agree. As-Aware did one thing really good. I don't want to get rid of my McAfee as it works the best for me. I wish you would make it during installation that you can choose not to install the anti-virus part & only install the Regualr Ad-Aware spyware removal part. WIth this new release, I have gone back to version 9.6 and if you don't change it soon, I will no longer be using or recommending your product. Sorry!
