Ad Aware free won't activate
I keep getting the "Activation Failed". I've had to use the key I got a few times because I've had to reinstall Windows. I'm guessing that I've used it too many times, but I'm not sure if there's a limit. I only have one email address and I've used it for my laptop (which is activated), but my desktop doesn't want to activate. It was fine the first time, but I had to reinstall Windows a while back. Now it won't activate.

Since it is a license problem, you must contact Lavasoft support instead of this forum with mostly volunteers.
You can use (since you cannot register your product): http://lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/support/supportcenter/adaware_critical_problem_report
If you have a Facebook account, you can write to them there.
Probably you will not receive any answers during the weekend, but if you don't receive an answer on Monday, please write here again and I will inform my contact person at Lavasoft and he will investigate why you haven't received an answer.0 -

Just to be sure. You aren't trying to use the same license key on both computers, are you?

Sorry for jumping in on this tread, and my first post, but I'm having exactly the same issue. Mines just a fresh download to try it out. Received my activation code but when entered I just get Activation failed message and told to try again later.
I'll use the email addy above to ask the guy's at Lavasoft but thought I'ld write this just in case it's a bit more of an issue than just one new user, now maybe two.

I am having the identical problem-- I have been using Ad-Aware for years; when I updated to the 10.2, it ran out of the 30 day trial period and now I must activate with the key to be able to update definitions. I tried to use the key 12 times last night, and again this morning. I keep getting the "activation failed" reply. I re-registered, got a new key, and the same problem. I have tried entering the key manually and by copy & paste. No success. This is a pain in the neck!!! 0 -
After you have clicked on "Options" on main screen of Ad-Aware, you can see the entered license key. Do that on the laptop and you can see if it is the same as the one you are trying to enter on the desktop. 0 -
I'm a volunteer, I'm not paid by Lavasoft and is visiting the forum on my free time. The purpose of the forum is to let users of Ad-Aware help each other. I or any other user of Ad-Aware can't help you with license/activation issues. But I have been here so much that I got a few contact persons at Lavasoft, but still it takes time for me to first ask for email address and license keys, then when I get it I have to send it to my contact persons and then they shall send the information to the right department. If the web page for support works as it is supposed to do (and do for a lot of persons every day), an email will get to the right person immediately and you will get an answer faster than if your problem shall pass me and my contact persons first. That is the reason why I prefer if you use the web page. 0 -
Reading Newbie's experience, it seems to be a futile effort. I came to this forum first, as thought it would be helpful. I guess it'll be more time efficient to delete the Ad Aware entirely and download again. 0 -

I can understand that you are frustrated. Be aware of that phone support isn't handled by Lavasoft and not free. Lavasoft only has email support and it's free. 0 -
I have deleted the program, reinstalled. Still getting the activation failed message. I am not upset with you, just frustrated with the problem. I am now on hold with the phone contact number given on the website. Thank you for your help-- I appreciate the time you invest here. 0 -

I sent a msg on the Lavasoft website, where it says "contact us." I have no idea about the PM you list above. Still, my keys won't activate my free AdAware. 0 -

Just to let you know I sent a support request using the link near the top of this threat and received a reply today. The reply didn't really say too much only they could see that I'd tried the activation code and said I hope it’s working now! I tried the code again after receiving the email and it now works fine and the software is now activated. I’m not sure if they did anything their end as they didn’t say as much, but it works so I’m happy.

The activation server gets overloaded now and then (it will be upgraded shortly). You might be able to activate if you try at a time when fewer persons are trying to activate.
The usual way of handling activation and license problems is to use the form on http://lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/support/supportcenter/contact_support for paying customers and on http://lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/support/supportcenter/adaware_critical_problem_report for users of Free or Trial and paying customers that can't use the first form. Then an email will be sent directly to Lavasoft support department. Sometimes there is a problem with the system sending the email, so if you don't get an answer within 48 hours, you can send a PM to me or LS AlexanderS (not working with support) containing email address, activation code/license key and other important information. We will forward it to the support department.0 -

Still can't activate; still no reply to my email to them that this won't activate. I fill pitiful complaining about a free product, but it makes me more hesitant to pay for the Pro version since they don't reply to emails. Tomorrow, I will send to all the links you mention above, Cecelia. Knitting a Dr Who scarf for one of my kids and have to have it done by 8/24-- and that takes precedence!
