    I'm not sure how Sendori got on my PC but I've uninstalled it. IT had been installed on 10/13/13. I'll follow your instructions this evening as I'm headed into a couple meetings now. Thanks!

    Hi Julian,

    You can try to install Ad-Aware on top of the current installation, that might add the missing information.

    (But I think that the antivirus program should be the last program to uninstall.)

    Looking at your screen shot Ad-Aware still shows in your Quick Launch bar. Click on 'Start' then on 'All Programs' and scroll through them to see if it shows up at all. You can also click on 'Start' and enter 'adaware' in the search box - you may get a hit there.

    Yes

    There should be an uninstall choice in the start menu.

    Start menu - All programs - Ad-Aware Antivirus - Uninstall Ad-Aware Antivirus

    I have the same issue in the new 11 version, no Ad-Aware listed when trying to uninstall it. And no Uninstall listed when going to: Start > All Programs > Ad-aware Antivirus > Ad-Aware Antivirus. And when I try to reinstall it I'm told the latest version is already installed. What should I do?

    Hi tvt79,

    It looks like you have a partially uninstalled Ad-Aware, maybe due to a McAfee program. The most components are uninstalled but some of the separate components aren't. Please, collect logs and other information by following the instructions in http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/33638-collect-logs-for-troubleshooting/ to let Lavasoft investigate the reason and let them fix it in future versions.

    When you have done that, please exit/turn off/disable everything you can in Ad-Aware before uninstall the components:

    AdAwareInstaller
    AntimalwareEngine

    Restart the computer, and attach new logs from DDS for a check, please.

    Or even better from FRST (I can see that you're using that program).

    Those two folders looks suspicious and could contain malicious files.

    This file is probably related:

    Is the computer infected and is that why you have installed McAfee antivirus program and Ad-Aware?

    Let us see if these instructions remove Ad-Aware:

    1. Please, start Notepad.
    Copy all text that is in the box:

    and paste in Notepad. Check that no files have been split on two lines.
    Save the file as fixlist.txt on the desktop.

    Start FRST, please.
    Click the Fix button.
    Wait until the tool has finished.

    It creates a log file, called Fixlog.txt, on the desktop.
    Please, paste the content of that file in your answer.

    2. These are stored in the security center:
    AV: Ad-Aware Antivirus *Disabled/Outdated* {D87B6541-12A1-DAEA-0033-9B8057AAB996}
    SP: Ad-Aware Antivirus *Disabled/Outdated* {631A84A5-349B-D564-3A83-A0F22C2DF32B}
    FW: Ad-Aware Firewall *Disabled* {E040E464-58CE-DBB2-2B6C-32B5A979FEED}

    To remove them:

    Start menu
    In the little search field enter: wbemtest.exe
    Start the program when it's displayed in the list above.
    When the program starts follow these five snapshots: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/Delete_AV_From_WMI.gif
    That is:

    Connect
    root\SecurityCenter
    Query
    SELECT * FROM AntiVirusProduct
    Apply
    Mark the line with D87B6541-12A1-DAEA-0033-9B8057AAB996
    Delete

    Repeat but replace AntiVirusProduct with AntiSpywareProduct and select 631A84A5-349B-D564-3A83-A0F22C2DF32B instead.
    Repeat but replace AntiVirusProduct with FirewallProduct and select E040E464-58CE-DBB2-2B6C-32B5A979FEED instead.
    Exit the program.

    Do you notice anything of Ad-Aware now?

    To get rid of McAfee antivirus program, I suggest that you run MCPR: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331

    I had McAfee installed but found I had a virus as a result of opening a link in an email that turned out to be bogus. Since McAfee didn't recognize it I downloaded Ad-Aware to fix it. During the Ad-Aware installation the laptop was accidently rebooted. (I thought the download & installation had been completed since I had waited 15-20 minutes.)

    So after following your instructions the fixlist.txt file on my desktop was renamed to a Chinese, Japanese or some other Asian language character name that I can't seem to copy & paste from the file properties here. But the file is now 18.4 MB. I googled the Chinese name and it led me to several virus-related sites. I've attached a the name as it appeared when I searched for it in the search window above. I'm not doing anything more till I hear back from you. Avast.com had several hits on Google. Thanks!!!

    It wouldn't copy/paste so here is the file. While waiting for your response I installed the free Avast antivirus software and it found & removed 1-2 files on my c drive & several I had on the external hard drive I inadvertently had left connected to the laptop.

    Let us start with removing the malicious files and folders.

    Please, follow the instructions on http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix for installing and running ComboFix.

    Read carefully and note the "Disclaimer of warranty"!

    Paste the content of the log into your answer. If you can't paste it, attach it, but I prefer if it's pasted.

    If ComboFix displays a message, for example that a rootkit was found, write it down as detailed as possible.

    1. I can't see this program in the previous logs:
    "Sendori Tray"="c:\program files (x86)\Sendori\SendoriTray.exe"
    Is it something you recognize?
    It's probably some kind of adware. Do you know how if it's been installed recently?

    2. Start Notepad.
    Copy all lines in the box:

    Killall::
    ClearJavaCache::

    and paste into Notepad.
    Save the file on the desktop with ANSI as encoding and with the name CFScript.

    Prepare the computer according to the instructions for running ComboFix.
    Drag CFScript with the mouse and drop it on top of the ComboFix icon on the Desktop, the program will start in a special way.
    Paste the new ComboFix log into your answer.

    If you receive error messages mentioning "register key", please restart the computer.

    3. Run DDS and attach DDS.txt.

    4. Run FRST and attach its log.

    Yes, I have IE 11 installed. A little history: I'm a hospital IT project management consultant and change hospitals every 6-12 months. I had upgraded my laptop to Windows 8.1 but when I started working at my current hospital I had to uninstall it and reinstall Windows 7 in order to access their network remotely.

    Do you know why I would have both a "Program File" & "Program File (x86) folder? I still have a Lavasoft folder & files in the Program Files folder which it's not letting me delete. It says something is currently open and to close it to remove. Is it the grayed/dithered out Ad-Aware icon that's still in my tray?

    I've attached all but the FRST64 file which I'll run now & attach to another reply.

    The first one is used for 64 bits programs and the other for 32 bits programs. All 64 bits Windows have those two folders.

    Today Lavasoft checked your logs in the beginning of the topic, and they created a fix that will add Ad-Aware to Control Panel, and then you should be able to uninstall all of it the usual way instead of deleting files and folders manually.

    Please download the attached file and save it on your desktop.

    Right-click and select to extract its file.

    Move the extracted file AdAwareUpdater_x64_11.1.5151.0.msi to the folder C:\.

    Start an elevated command prompt:

    Start menu - All programs - Accessories

    Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.

    Enter these commands (end each one with Enter):

    cd \

    msiexec /I AdAwareUpdater_x64_11.1.5152.0.msi INSTALLDIR_ROOT="c:\\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware Antivirus"

    Double-click on the extracted file called AdAwareUpdater_x64_11.1.5151.0.msi to run it.

    Check if you can see Ad-Aware in the Control Panel's list of installed programs, if not restart the computer first.
