    Hi golbez,

If you can't get an activation key, please send me a PM with your email address and other information in the registration form. I'll forward it to my contact person at Lavasoft and they can register your installation of Ad-Aware and give you an activation key in a PM.

    Hello CeciliaB.

I have the same issue as the op.

In the PM, what other information should be included (aside from the email address) in order to get my free version of Ad-Aware registered?

    Thanks!

Edit: Is the registration form referring to the window prompt from the Ad-Aware program? Then providing the email address and my full name would be sufficient?

Is the computer connected to internet through a proxy server?

    Which firewall do you use?

Do you suspect that the computer is infected?

I use Windows firewall. Virus scan is clean and my computer is directly connected to the internet line.

    Hi again,

Please, check that no proxy server is used:

    Start Internet Explorer.
In the Tools menu select Internet options, followed by Connection tab and then click the LAN Settings button.
If the check box Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) is selected, please:
    1. Write down the content of the Address and Port fields, if the Address field is empty click on Advanced and write down the addresses and ports there. These values indicate if the computer is or was infected.
    2. Remove the check mark before clicking OK twice.

    Try to activate Ad-Aware again.

Then Lavasoft need some more information. Please, send me a new PM with the Physical address (MAC address) of your main network card.

You'll find the Physical address in this way:

Hold down the Windows key (between Ctrl and Alt keys) and press the R key.

In the little box that appears, enter the command:

    cmd

    Click the OK button.

In the new window with the Command Prompt enter this command:

    ipconfig /all

    Press the Enter key.

Find your main network card, usually called Ethernet Connection to local network or Wireless..., and then below that header find the line starting with Physical address. The physical address of the card is the code that looks similar to 00-00-00-DD-EE-OE.

    Hello Group,

I just purchased the upgrade to Ad Aware 11 Pro, received my Activation code immediately, but Ad-Aware 11 will not accept the activation code. I receive the message that says, "Activation Process Failed. Please try again later". Fails over and over. Have I just wasted $27?

What do I need to do?

    Thank you,

    David

    Hello,
I am running Windows 7 64-Bit. ALL firewalls are turned off as is protection. I do not use a Proxy Server. My Physical Location is: 70-5A-B6-B4-1F-01. No indication that computer is infected.
    What are the next steps?
    Thank you,
    David

    Hello,
Per your instructions, I am sending 2 of the 3 files that you requested. I could not find MSIxxx. files in the location per your instructions. I hope these files will help. Can you simply activate my account from your end? Please let me know if the files did not attach to this message. I did not see a clear method to attach files.

    Thank you,

    David

David, read the instructions again. The first thing you must do is to show "Hidden Files". From there on you will be able to create the MSI zip file. Remember to reverse the steps so as the hide the files again.

    Hello David,

Thanks for the logs. Since the MSI files are located in a temporary folder, they often have been deleted by Disk Cleaner, CCleaner or another program that deletes unnecessary files. But, of course, it can be as Pierre67 wrote, if you can't find the Temp folder.

I can see that you have Norton installed and Norton has a lot of protection that sometimes may block another program, even if you think you have turned it off. Is it possible to configure its firewall to let all programs in the Lavasoft's program folder access internet?

I'll inform my contact person at Lavasoft when she is back in the office tomorrow, either she can see a cause in the logs or she can give you an activation file.

    Hi again David,

Lavasoft can't find your email address in their database of customers. They need some kind of proof that shows that you have bought Ad-Aware.

    Hi Cocomie,

I can see that not everything of Ad-Aware 10 was uninstalled. Please, remove two drivers that belongs to Ad-Aware 10.

Start menu - All programs - Accessories

Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.

    Enter the following commands:

    sc stop gfibto

    sc delete gfibto

    sc delete gfiark

If you get an error message, please don't do anything more and write the message in your reply.

    Restart the computer.

    Can you activate now?
