Thanks for the reply but there was no (deleted). I also searched the entire computer for it in Windows explorer and tried Installing Adaware again but still got the reboot problem. Any other ideas? An old version 9.6 installs and runs fine if that means anything.

    You're welcome

It's very important that version 9.6 isn't installed when installing a modern version of Ad-Aware.

    Uninstallation: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/30850-how-to-uninstall-ad-aware-9x/

If still unsuccessful, please collect logs and other information by following the instructions in http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/33638-collect-logs-for-troubleshooting/to let Lavasoft investigate your problem.

    Hi waynev,

The issue with grey buttons on the laptop with version 11.04555 is known and it will be fixed in an up-coming release of Ad-Aware.

Regarding the computer requiring a reboot:

Have you tried to uninstall Ad-Aware, reboot, and install the latest version of Ad-Aware again?

Since you have bought the product, you can use the Lavasoft support instead of this forum with volunteers, if you prefer that: http://lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/support/supportcenter/contact_support

I have the same problem on the free version. Every time I run the updater it says "Reboot Required". Rebooting doesn't help. I tried to uninstall Ad-Aware - can't be done because it's not installed. I tried then to restore to a time before I ran the update - no help. Ad-Aware reappeared after restoring to a week ago, but wouldn't run. Uninstalling that version didn't help either.

Some forums suggested registry keys that are set to indicate "reboot required", but deleting these keys didn't help either.

So now I have no working copy of Ad-Aware, and no way to re-install it.

    Hi firefly2560,

Please, collect and upload all information mentioned in the topic http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/33638-collect-logs-for-troubleshooting/ to give Lavasoft the information they need to investigate your issue.

Do you have another antivirus program installed or have recently uninstalled one?

Which firewall program do you use?

Attached are the files as requested. I noticed in the MSIc7197.log that there was a passing reference to Advanced System Care. (It runs a PC status monitor). I shut it down and tried the installer again but it made no difference.

The problem started whe I tried to install the V 11 upgrade. At the end of the installation it asked for a reboot, but as I had a few documents open, I didn't allow the immediate reboot. Instead, I made sure that the other windows were closed down in an orderly manner, and then rebooted manually. In fact, I didn't notice for a couple of days that Ad-Aware wasn't running. All previous upgrades have gone smoothly.

I run Avast Antivirus as my main virus scanner, and I run Ad-Aware in Compatibility Mode as a backup. I read in one of the forums that Compatibility Mode doesn't even require a reboot.

Unless Avast has a firewall, I'm just running the standard Windows firewall. It's never been a problem for Ad-Aware before.

I'm having this problem now, but I've also just start using Windows 8.1, if that helps. I get the Reboot Required message, and after I reboot, it still says Reboot Required.

    Hi esteevius,

Which version of Ad-Aware do you have, version 11.0 or 11.1?

If you have 11.0, please uninstall it, restart the computer and download the latest version from Lavasoft's web site.

But I'm having the same problem where even when I try to uninstall I get the message "Reboot Required" and rebooting does absolutely nothing other than inform me to reboot all over again. Yes, it was 11.0. If I could get rid of it I'd do the direct 11.1 download.

I'm having the same issue as well. I've rebooted my computer a dozen times after trying to "update" it. And I'm also unable to uninstall it.

Please send me a PM as well if you don't mind.

    Thanks.
