Ad Aware Pro Security Compatible with Windows 8.1?
I have updated my other computer to windows 8.1 since then I cannot use it because my previous AV is lost. So, I have to install another AV again that suits in 8.1. I'm wondering if ad aware pro security is compatible in 8.1?

Yes, Ad-Aware 11 is compatible with Windows 8.1, but some persons can't turn on the features that are specific for Ad-Aware Pro, compared to Ad-Aware Free, in Windows 8.1. That bug will be fixed this week, or maybe beginning of next week, with a minor update of Ad-Aware.

Hi! Regarding the update. My ad-aware found an update just a little while ago and I really hoped that this bug where you can't turn on some features would be fixed. Well just to let you know, It didn't work on my computer. Don't even know what difference it made.
I've had a lot of troubles with the 11. First it ran fine, then the service unavailable thing poped up, and after I last night updated to W 8.1 and reinstalled ad-aware 11 most of the features won't function. I've read a lot of the posts online and tried many things to get this to work properly to no avail.Just wanted you to know :-)

It is very surprising that Customer Support says nothing about this!! I have been emailing with them and get these generic - and irritating - answers, without them EVER acknowledging that there is a bug. SO I go non uninstalling and installing everyday, hoping some magic will happen!
If I had know this was a bug, I would have ignored it. Aaaarrrghhh..... nothing changes in this software world !!!!

They just respond wait for update to fix issue...2 weeks after buying program it is 90% useless. I wont be buying it again....Poor Testing and Bad Customer Service on Top of that....

I'm not working at Lavasoft, but I'm sure they are working hard to find and correct the bugs. They thought they had fixed it almost two weeks ago, but then something came up that stopped that fix, maybe they found that something worse happened in some computers after applying the fix. Antivirus programs and Windows are complex products and not always easy to know what's happening.

I'm not sure what you mean, gmlindsay, but Lavasoft were able to reproduce the error. Otherwise they wouldn't know how to fix it and if the fix solved it.

Cecelia - you are putting up a stalwart defence BUT would it not be more convincing if an actual Lavasoft employee were to try to do the same??

Thanks for that clarification Cecilia - it seems I have been confused by the title of this forum which says "Ad Aware Pro Security for Windows 8.1" implying that it is not just for free version mutual support.
As a Pro licensee, I will now address my problem direct to Lavasoft tech support.

Lavasoft has setup this forum to let users of the free version help each other, since they aren't entitled to help from the Lavasoft support team. Lavasoft staff aren't following the topics here, but I can tell them when people discover serious issues and upload logs that need to be investigated. Lavasoft staff don't defend every bug that's found, they know that's their fault and spend the time trying to solve the bugs as fast as possible, but also without introducing other bugs.
There was a fix for the issue in this topic almost two weeks ago and it was planned to be sent out 10 days ago. But since it was postponed, something came up during the tests of it, e.g. destroyed something in other computers, but that's a guess since I don't have that kind of knowledge of their work and decisions.

Hmmm - no mention of the bug correction in the response from Lavasoft Technical support. Suggested that I uninstall and reinstall latest version - but I already have latest version (11.0.4555.0) installed.
Any update on the bug resolution Cecilia?

Some users of the paid versions ask here in the forum, since it's the first place they find or they don't want to wait until they get a response from the support team. Since this topic started with a simple question, I answered it instead of redirecting the person to the support team.
I have now changed the topic title to be more specific and match the question it started with.

I've just received an email offering me a "Free Update" to AdAware 11 but there is no mention of the update number - to let me know if it's more recent than my current version or if it's an update to rectify the bug? Any ideas how I can find out if it's a newer version or if it's the bug fix version?

Maybe not all of support staff are aware of it, as reported in post #9 by Roll of the Dice some of them are. The plan is that the update will be sent out this week.
If you don't want to wait, Lavasoft offers to connect to your computer and fix it manually. You'll see everything they do, and you'll be able to stop them and communicate with them. If you accept it, please send me your email address in a PM. Lavasoft will respond in another PM and later on send you a file by email.

If you can't wait until the update is published, Lavasoft might be able connect to your computer and fix the issue. If you want that, please send me your email address in a PM. Someone from Lavasoft will contact you in another PM and later on send a file to your email address.

It's been a week since last post. Any update on when the update is going to be release? It seems that if they're having this much trouble getting it to work with Windows 8.1 it is going to be a major version revision rather than just a patch. Can anyone say Ad-Aware Pro 12?

I have just heard direct from Lavasoft (be email) that the upgrade to resolve our issues will be available on December 11th (hopefully 2103)

Sorry, due to several postpones I refuse to listen to the dates I get from Lavasoft. The update with only a few bug fixes, that was planned to be finished some weeks ago, has been merged into the 11.1 version, which is planned to be available on December 11th, but a lot of things can happen during three weeks so the date isn't a promise.
If you are in a hurry (understandable), I can ask if Lavasoft can connect to your computers to fix it manually. You have to send me your email addresses in a PM.
