AdAware 2008 Crashes due to an Access Violation in TVirtualStringTree
Background
Today I wanted to scan my computer (a PC running WinXP) for the first time in quite awhile. Before scanning, I intended to update the definitions. Upon updating those, I was informed that a newer Update Machine (I think it said) as well as a new version was available. I downloaded all the new stuff and was told I had the latest FREE version.
I then proceeded to scan my computer. After 43 min it was through the "quick" scan. I was informed that it had found 155 threats whereof 152 were tracking cookies. I removed those.
Problem
The final three hits were listed under a heading of MRU Object. That name had a + sign to the left of it (exactly as the tracking cookies headline had). When I clicked the + in front of MRU Object though, I very briefly saw a list of three things before the list vanished - but much too quickly to be able to read it. I then pressed the + again, to bring it forward again. Same thing happened: a glimpse, then gone. Third time I hit the + I got an error message instead, see the attached image:
It asked me to bring this to your attention, so...
What is an MRU Object? And is there any risk those three things are really evil stuff or why did Ad-Aware Crash?
